- The City of Osceola is moving forward with their dream of building a recreation center for the quality of life of all Osceola citizens.  This recreation center will be built through a private company (Hansen and Kitchell) and no bond will be taken out.  The reason for going this route is to not compete with other local building projects and the stay physically responsible.

- This week the city of Osceola is mourning the loss of one of its great leaders. Former Mayor Fred Diehl passed away earlier this week. Mayor Diehl served the community of Osceola as mayor for 18 years. In his time he restored the historic depot, paved over 100 city blocks, was instrumental into bringing the casino to town, and worked tirelessly to ensure all Osceola citizens would have clean, quality water. Mayor Diehl has been and will continue to be a great inspiration. He will be greatly missed. In honor of Mayor Diehl's great service and dedication to Osceola, the City of Osceola encourages all United States flags flown on private property inside the city limits to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, September 17th. We will also be having a moment of silence at the next city council meeting and we will be proclaiming his birthday as an Osceola Holiday to celebrate and promote public service throughout our community.

- It should be common sense. If a stop sign is extended from a school bus, you stop your vehicle. However, officials from Clarke Community School District have noticed a growing problem. “Even though the sign is out, the bus is stopped, the lights are lit — they blow through the stop sign,” Clarke Superintendent Steve Seid said. The school district has decided to be proactive to fix the situation — and find the violators. During a Clarke Community School Board meeting Monday, July 11, the board approved to start adding cameras to the school bus stop signs.
