- This week the city of Osceola is mourning the loss of one of its
great leaders. Former Mayor Fred Diehl passed away earlier this week.
Mayor Diehl served the community of Osceola as mayor for 18 years. In
his time he restored the historic depot, paved over 100 city blocks, was
instrumental into bringing the casino to town, and worked tirelessly to
ensure all Osceola citizens would have clean, quality water. Mayor
Diehl has been and will continue to be a great inspiration. He will be greatly missed. In honor of Mayor Diehl's great service and dedication to Osceola, the
City of Osceola encourages all United States flags flown on private
property inside the city limits to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday,
September 17th. We will also be having a moment of silence at the next
city council meeting and we will be proclaiming his birthday as an
Osceola Holiday to celebrate and promote public service throughout our
community.
